Radiant

radiant

(adjective)

-sending out light; shining or glowing brightly

This morning I read in the book of Exodus that Moses' face was radiant after he spent 40 days on Mount Sinai with the LORD. It brought tears to my eyes.

Exodus 34:29-35

When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord. When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him. But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to them. Afterward all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai.

When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face. But whenever he entered the Lord’s presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the Lord.

How beautiful! I pray that it would be true of me, that God's beauty would be reflected in my face and my eyes. Sometimes I pray that wherever I go, the Holy Spirit, who lives within me, will leave a trail of sweet fragrance behind on all who come in contact with me.

Another favorite verse of mine talks about being radiant.

Psalm 34:1-5

I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.

Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.

I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.

Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.

I know that the only way I can reflect His radiance is to spend time in His presence, just like Moses did. What will make me radiant is the joy that comes from experiencing His love, the awe that comes from recognizing His magnificence, and the peace that comes from knowing He is holding me in the palm of His hand.

Dear reader, whoever you are, I pray you will just stop today and spend time in the presence of Jesus! There is nothing sweeter.
