November 23, 2025

I asked God what He wanted me to know about the upcoming women’s Bible study I was leading. It was January of 2025 when I asked Him, and this is what He showed me:

He has entrusted them to me.

I see each of their faces in my mind. I say their names one-by-one. These are His people. His children. The most precious things to Him in the entire world. He’s like a Master entrusting the most precious thing He has to me.

What a privilege! He calls me to shepherd them.

But as I lead Bible study, what am I doing? And why am I doing this?

I picture myself heading towards Heaven. I’m following the light. I’m chasing after Jesus. And I’m calling to the others to join the fight. “Follow me!”

And more and more women take notice and stop what they’re doing and start running towards the light in the sky, towards the clouds where beams of light are streaming down.

God’s loving voice tells me to remember who I am. I have been on a journey the past several years to learn where my true value comes from. It comes from Him. My Father. I am the one God made and placed here on this earth just because He wanted me. That’s the best, most precious thing about me. God wanted me!

As I run at the head of the pack to follow Jesus and chase the light, I turn to the woman running behind me. We pause and I look straight into her eyes and tell her who she is.

“You are a daughter of the King. God wanted you. That’s why you’re here.”

Then she turns to the woman behind her and looks straight into her eyes to tell her who she is. “You are a daughter of the King. God wanted you. That’s why you’re here.”

Then she turns to the woman behind her to remind her who she is…

And so we run. We call those on the sidelines to follow. We remind them who they are. Then we run. The Light of the World leads us on.

I see you. If you have ever been part of Arise Women’s Ministry, you are the ones God entrusted to me. And I could not treasure anything more than I do your hearts. God loves you so dearly, and when I see you walk through the doors for Bible study or any other Arise event, I feel His tenderness for you. It is my delight to get to know each of you and (hopefully) help create a space where you can know God more and also develop friendships with other women who love Jesus.

I once read a book that said sometimes our greatest pain can help us discover our passion. One of the most painful things that happened to me as a child was in middle school when my “best friend” decided she didn’t like me anymore because I wasn’t cool enough. I heard that she called me a “fat nerd” behind my back. It broke my 6th grade heart. That, along with all the other ways I didn’t fit in or felt lonely and uncertain around other girls in middle school and high school, helped fuel my compassion for women. We all belong. We are all invited. Simply because God wanted us and placed us here on this earth so that He could love us and so that we could love one another. I love making women feel seen and safe and included. It comes naturally to me. And I believe that is the type of community God wants Arise Women’s Ministry to be. He knows your name, so I will know your name. He lights up when you enter the room, so I will do the same. He thinks you are precious and beautiful and worth knowing, so I will do the same. He cares about your story, so I will do the same. He celebrates your joys and He weeps with your sorrows, so I will do the same. I love you because He does.

But…even though it feels wonderful to be in a kind, supportive sisterhood, that’s not what makes you valuable. You are valuable because God made you. He placed you here because He wanted you. I have learned to look only to Him, (imperfectly, because I am still tempted to look elsewhere sometimes) for my self-worth. Spending time with Him fills my heart with His love and His assurance that I am here because He wanted me.

“Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.”

Psalm 34: 5

But one of the ways you can be reminded of that truth is to see His love for you through His daughters, your sisters in Christ. That’s what I want all women to see when they look in my eyes. His love for you.

I thank Him all the time for entrusting me with His daughters.

You’re welcome here, sisters. Will you follow after Jesus with me?

——————————————-

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”

Hebrews 12:2-3
